30 years later, the Hollywood icon Tom Cruise has said a sequel is “definitely happening.” In an interview on the Australian morning show, Sunrise, Cruise was asked about rumors of the sequel happening. Cruise not only confirmed the project but went on to state filming would be happening as soon as next year.

No confirmation has been made but Oblivion director, Joseph Kosinski is rumored to have been hired to man the director’s chair. In 2015, Val Kilmer teased that he had been approached to reprise his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazanski but we will have to wait and see if that is still on the table.
